Q: When is the police station open?
A: The Dudley Police Station is open 24/7. If there is not an individual in the station to assist you, refer to the call box in the lobby of the station.
Q: How do I get a firearms application?
A: Firearms applications can be downloaded here or be picked up at the station. If you decide to download an application from the website, please call the station so that we may add your name to the Firearms Appointment List.
Q: How long does it take before I have my firearms appointment?
A: The length of time can vary based on how many people are on the list ahead of you, as such it is not uncommon to wait over a month or two before having your appointment.
Q: I moved to/from Dudley, how do I change my LTC information?
A: A form is available under the "LTC Firearms Info" tab. Follow the instructions on the form.
Q: How do I get my motor vehicle accident report?
A: Come into the station with a valid photo ID. The officer who took your report has, by law, 5 days to complete it, though generally the report is done the next day.
Q: I had a car accident in another town, can you give it to me?
A: The Dudley Police Department can only print accident reports that occurred within our town. Please contact the town where you had the accident, they should be able to get you your report.
Q: How do I get a report/log entry?
A: Individuals requesting reports/log entries will have to come to the police station and fill out a records request form. There is a charge of 5 cents per page (this fee is waived for victims of a crime).
Q: Can I drop off my medication at the Dudley Police Station?
A: Yes, there is a container in the lobby. Follow the guidelines listed on the container.
Q: Does the Dudley Police Department take medical sharps?

Q: Can the Dudley Police Department fingerprint me for a job?
A: The Dudley Police Department will only fingerprint residents of Dudley. All others must use their town's police department or go to the State Police Barracks.
Q: Is the Dudley Police Department civil service?
A: The Dudley Police Department is a Non-Civil Service Department. Our full-time officers are hired from our Reserve Officer List. Reserve Officers are hired every few years from a pool of applications who have passed a test similar in nature to the Civil Service Test. This test was last conducted in October of 2017.
Q: Does the Dudley Police Department have internships?
A: Internships are available through a program in conjunction with Nichols College, and are open only to Nichols College students who meet the internship requirements. Contact your adviser for more information. In special circumstances, Dudley Residents are allowed to apply.
Q: Does the police department do a Toys For Tots program?
A: Yes, though not called "Toys for Tots", the Police Department does run a toy drive each December. Drops offs may be made in the police lobby, where a bin is placed. Only residents of Dudley are allowed to sign up for toys for their children (children 17 and younger only). Residents may come into the station or call the station to be placed on the list to receive toys.
Q: How much would it cost to hire an officer for a police detail?
A: As of July 12th, 2022 our detail rates are $57.26 per hour for each officer. There is a 4 hour minimum. In addition, anything after 4 hours and up to 8 hours is charged as 8 hours. Anything after 8 hours is charged as time and a half at a rate of $85.89 per hour. In addition, the non-negotiable admin fee is 10% of the cost for an officer. If you would like a cruiser as well, they must be approved by a supervisor and is an additional 10%.
