Communications Center

The Dudley Police Department (DPD) employs four full time civilian Dispatchers.  Our reserve Officers also have the responsibility to fill open dispatch shifts, should it be required.

Dispatchers provide emergency and non-emergency communication response to the public requesting law enforcement or emergency services. They obtain all necessary information and transmit to appropriate agency or field units. They maintain appropriate electronic documentation of police logs and queries numerous computer systems to access criminal and civil information. In addition they interact with the public in the lobby of the police station and provide assistance as needed.

Dispatchers have access to several radio systems which allow them to communicate with the other town departments, and neighboring communities. In an emergency the DPD Communications Control Center can function as a the primary dispatch point for the Fire Department.

The DPD Communication Control Center is equipped with the latest in technology with regards to emergency and law enforcement information retrieval, utilizing a highly advanced computer aided dispatch (CAD) system, LEAPS terminals, and enhanced 911 emergency call systems. All of our Dispatchers are trained in how to use this equipment and how to help callers during an emergency. Enhanced 911 is completely compatible with TDD machines. Persons who utilize this type of equipment can still dial 911 to reach emergency assistance.
