The Dudley Police Department, along with officials from Shepherd Hill High School, have been investigating a hand written threat, which was discovered in a second floor bathroom at the school late last week. From the time of the discovery, local police and school personnel worked with a variety of agencies, including the Massachusetts State Police, the Charlton Police, and the Dudley Fire Department, to provide additional safety measures and identify a possible suspect. Numerous interviews and other evidence gathering procedures took place over the past week. As a result of the investigation, Dudley Police have arrested Ryan Ijams age 17 of Charlton, Ma. Mr. Ijams is a student at the school and was identified by both witnesses and through handwriting analysis conducted in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police detectives. Mr. Ijams was booked at the Dudley Police Department. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Dudley District Court on Monday, November 2nd on charges of false report of an explosive device and disrupting a school assembly. The Dudley Police wish to thank the school officials, the other agencies, and the many others who have provided assistance during this investigation.
