Press Release Dudley Police Department May 18, 2009
On Saturday, May 16th, Chief Steven Wojnar and the Dudley Police Department were officially provided with a new portable breathalyzer. The gift was presented during the Big Time Wresting show held at the Webster Town Hall. The presentation was made by John Cena, Sr. aka Johnny Fabulous. This donation was possible thanks to funds that were raised at a benefit wrestling event for Cena’s son, Daniel, who was involved in a head on collision with a drunk driver approximately two years ago. Daniel is now back on the job as a sergeant in West Newbury, MA. The show called “The Homecoming” featured Cena’s son, WWE Super star John Cena, and, “The Chairman of the Board,” WWE’s Mr. McMahon. Cena stated, “It was indeed an honor to have both of these individuals be part of this great event.” The program was designed to raise public awareness of drunk driving and to utilize the funds raised for that purpose. Several departments have been the beneficiary of these funds in the past, including the Webster Police Department. Cena noted that it was a great honor to be able to provide these tools to the departments as many of them were utilizing older equipment or simply did not have the available funds to purchase these devices. It is hoped that individuals will become more responsible when drinking and driving and these tools will allow departments to enforce the law for those who do not understand that drinking to excess and driving do not mix. Cena also hopes to continue aiding departments and providing the education and tools necessary to allow officers to do their job.
