Press Release August 21, 2009
The Dudley Police Department investigated a break into Marty’s Liquors, located at 119 West Main Street, on Monday, August 17, 2009 at approximately 1:30am. Entry to the business was gained through a side window which had been broken by the suspects. Initial investigation revealed at least three males had entered the establishment. They stole a number of items including alcohol and cigarettes. On Thursday, August 20, 2009, Officer James Annese and two members of the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services apprehension unit, responded to a home on D’Alessandro Avenue in Dudley seeking a subject wanted on outstanding warrants. Officers were looking for a Christopher Cherry, age 20, who at the time was believed to be homeless (current address later given as 33 Oxford Avenue in Dudley). While at 23 D’Alessandro Avenue, officers met a person of interest who was later identified Christopher Giaquinto age 21 of that address. Some evidence of the crime connected to the break at Marty's liquors was discovered at the residence. This included alcohol and cigarettes. Mr. Giaquinto was later arrested in connection with this case. Mr. Cherry was not found at that home. He was later located at an apartment on Pleasant Street in Webster, Ma. Mr. Cherry was placed under arrest on the outstanding warrants. In addition to the warrant charge, information had been gathered during the investigation which linked Mr. Cherry to the break at Marty’s Liquors. He was also charged in connection with this case. As part of the continued investigation, a third suspect was identified as being involved in this matter. William McCarthy, age 18, of 6 Joseph Street in Dudley was found to be in possession of some items linked to this break. He was later located at his place of employment and arrested.
All three individuals were charged with: Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime with intent to commit a felony Malicious Destruction of Property over $250 Larceny over $250 Mr. Cherry also faced outstanding warrant charges.
Officer Annese was assisted in this case by Officers Anthony Didonato, David Carpenter, and Chandler Boyd. In addition, The Dudley Police wish to thank The Massachusetts Department of Youth Services, the Webster Police, and Nichols College Public Safety for their assistance with this investigation.
All three suspects are scheduled for arraignment in Dudley District Court on Friday, August 21st.
