On Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007, at approximately 12:15 am, Officer Marek Karlowicz of the Dudley Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle on Oxford Ave. after witnessing a 2007 Pontiac G6, color black, traveling above the posted speed limit of 25 mph.
Officer Karlowicz attempted to stop the vehicle by activating the overhead cruiser blue lights and siren. The vehicle continued north on Oxford Ave. at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued into the Town of Oxford reaching speeds up to 75 mph. The vehicle passed one vehicle and crossed the yellow center line on several occasions.
After driving approximately three and half miles, the vehicle pulled into a Getty Gas Station at the intersection of Main St. and Harwood St. in Oxford. The suspect identified as Carlos Ricard, age 23, of Worcester was taken into custody without incident.
He was transported to the Dudley Police Headquarters where he was booked and charged with failing to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, marked lanes violation, unsafe passing, and fail to signal. Ricard was released on $200 cash bail and is scheduled for arraignment on April 9, 2007, in Dudley District Court.
